I have traveled down many avenues of artistic expression in my life-time. I ventured into the theatre as director, designer and actor, delved into music as singer, musician and songwriter, and explored graphic and interior design. My first photographs were taken in childhood with a Kodak Instamatic in the early sixties, but when my long-time husband gave me my first 35mm Canon SLR, I discovered an avenue to explore my love affair with light. Since 2004, I use a digital SLR exclusively. Through numerous books, a handful of classes and countless captured images, I have inched my way into the noble breed of the self-taught photographer. Life is a collection of ordinary moments. Photography allows one to capture and savor a particular slice of time... to zero in on a familiar object and expose its inherent but neglected beauty... to uncover the surprising and delightful ways that light dances over leaves and paints reflections on a puddle. Photography enables us to see something for the first time, all over again. |
