How many of us have looked at a photograph of some nature scene and thought “Isn't that pretty?” I appreciate “pretty” as much as the next person, but when I take my camera into the woods or to the ocean, I am hunting for an image that captures the essence of what I feel. Poets use words to capture a sense of the eternal and timeless; I choose light, color, shadow, and texture. I aim to seize forever the moment where nature and humanity meet, where the grandeur, the majesty, the sense of being simultaneously alone and yet being fully connected to the moment, with every sense alive. |
